“up to one meter for 30 minutes” is not very impressive

Brian, you are being silly. 1m immersion for 30 minutes is an IP67 rating and it is quite impressive for a computer case. The only time you are likely to need better protection is if you need a computer with you when you are scuba diving.

NEMA 4 enclosures which is commonly used to protect equipment outdoors is only IP66 and for most applications (say a WiFi box on a pole on your roof or outside your house) NEMA 4 is fine 99% of the time.

IP67 is good for things like marine applications.

Now, if you had complained the price on the case is high I might be sympathetic. But if you actually NEED IP67, you have to pay for it.

    Cheers from soggy Corvallis Oregon

1m for 30 min is impressive enough for me.

I highly doubt that any computer I build will be exposed to that condition in the field. At most we are looking at atmosphere dust/moisture or a accidental coffee spill

Quite right, NishNish. The most common applications for this system are mining or manufacturing environments where they won’t be exposed to water directly, but may be subject to dust that would clog normal connectors, oil spray, or highly corrosive atmospheres. We also have a couple of customers who use these in slaughterhouses and helicopters.

On a related note, we’ve recently added an Atom N270 option, and should have a dual-core Atom D525 system by the end of June.
