A recent article in Discover Magazine from September 2011 headlines “Robots Invent Their Own Language” with a tiny sub-headline But no word yet on when they plan to overthrow us. I’m gaga for this stuff and the possibility of a robotocalypse (I’ve watched way too many Will Smith movies) so I have to read on. The little bots are called Lingodroids (don’t you want to pinch their metal cheeks?) and are “programmed to make, use, and share language.” And yes, there’s even video proof of them conversing in beeps and blurps. Don’t worry, for those of us who can’t speak robot yet, there are subtitles. Happy Friday!
